New York — Sixteen years after the Thorne & Barrett massacre killed more than four hundred people on Wall Street, the Steward National Committee today marked the anniversary with memorial events in New York and simultaneous observances hosted by state organizations nationwide.

The 2037 attack began after a former private-wealth client of Thorne & Barrett entered the building with illegally modified Wasp microdrones and released them into the bank’s environmental system. The drones dispersed through occupied floors and mechanical spaces faster than police could isolate them. The death toll ultimately exceeded four hundred employees, clients, contractors and responders.

Authorities ended the attack only after the governor approved a New York National Guard wide-area electromagnetic suppression strike over the affected financial block. The measure disabled the remaining drones but also destroyed unshielded electronics across neighboring buildings. Core financial records survived in hardened remote systems, while full restoration of trusted hardware and certified operations took months.

The massacre became the first national organizing issue for the Stewards. The movement backed a categorical constitutional prohibition covering government agencies, corporations, research institutions and military deployment. The amendment was later ratified by the states.

“The lesson of Thorne & Barrett was not that one company needed better security,” SNC Chair Mara Ellison said in the committee statement. “It was that a class of technology had crossed a line ordinary law enforcement could not reliably defend. The country answered by drawing the line in the Constitution.”

Congress subsequently created the Microdrone Interdiction Administration, known as Mia, and a refundable federal tax credit covering qualifying certified interdiction arrays for American citizens at residences and personal conveyances. The Stewards continue to support both the constitutional prohibition and the citizen defense framework.
